About
Hello!
I'm Christine, nice to meet you! I'm from San Jose, California and I'm currently based in San Francisco. I have Bachelors of Arts degrees in music and chemistry from St. Olaf College, and am pursuing my Master of Science in chemistry at the University of San Francisco. I've been involved in music all my life, playing piano since I was four and singing in choir since I was five. My whole family is very musical, and my two sisters and I often sang trios together growing up.
While I dabbled in writing music when I was younger, I didn't start seriously composing until I was around fourteen, starting off arranging hymn trios for my sisters and I to sing in church with my father accompanying on piano or organ. Now, I specialize in choral composition, but I also dabble in art song and enjoy composing for other instruments and groups.
For now, my catalog of music is pretty small, but you have to start from somewhere! My goal with publicizing my music is to be honest and transparent, and I want to make my music accessible to anyone who wants to check it out, regardless of ability or experience. Thus far, I have had pieces premiered in both the US and Canada which has been pretty cool.
I also love choral singing: I sang in children's choir from ages 5-18, did the honor choir circuit in high school, and at St. Olaf, I sang in several different choirs and co-directed St. Olaf's student-led vocal jazz group, the Ole Ave Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Currently, I sing soprano in the San Francisco Choral Artists and at the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin while still gigging from time to time.
Apart from music and chemistry, I enjoy running, cycling and swimming; I ran for St. Olaf and currently run for USF, where I specialize in the 3000m steeplechase, the mile/1500m, and the 5000m! I also love all cats, but especially my cat (Paisley), learning about anything and everything, and any sort of adventure, especially to new restaurants. And if you're into Netflix original series and movies, I've seen a ton of them and love talking about them.
I hope you enjoy looking around my page! Make sure to check out my Soundcloud and YouTube channel for new recordings and videos of my works!
